On March 14, 2025 DHS published a Federal Register notice giving the public 60 days to comment on its plan to submit for OMB review a series of changes to DHS Form 7001, Request for Case Assistance. Individuals and employers use this form to request assistance from the Office of the Citizenship and Immigration Services Ombudsman (CIS Ombudsman) when they are experiencing problems with USCIS during the processing of immigration benefits.
- Visit the current Form 7001 web page
- Read the Federal Register notice published at 90 FR 12171 (March 14, 2025)
In the Federal Register notice, DHS describes its plan to:
- "Limit each request to one immigration issue.
- Remove questions customers did not historically answer correctly.
- Enhance the instructions in each form section.
- Re-order form sections... to reflect the customer's perspective."
"Comments are encouraged and will be accepted until May 13, 2025."
