Region XI DEI

With the introduction of Region XI's new Diversity & Access Representative in January 2024, Region XI has created dedicated space for our members to engage in dialogue and action through the promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion. All Region XI members are encouraged to review NAFSA's Statement on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to learn more about the organization's overall commitment to DEI. Current opportunities for engagement in Region XI include:

  • Join in Monthly DEI Conversations (every 2nd Thursday at 11am EST via Zoom) where we discuss the needs of our communities and actionable ways to address those needs
  • Participate in a DEI Roundtable at the annual Region XI Conference
  • Engage in Discussion and collaboration with other practitioners with through the new Region XI DEI listserv

All Region XI members who are interested in engaging in dialogue on how Region XI can better serve you and/or your institution are encouraged to sign up for the listserv or reach out to the Diversity & Access Representative directly at [email protected].

Region XI DEI Listserv

The Region XI DEI listserv allows international education professionals in New England and beyond to ask DEI-oriented industry questions, discuss DEI developments and resources, and notify others of employment opportunities in the DEI space.

Listserv Guidelines

By subscribing to the Region XI DEI listserv, you are agreeing to abide by the guidelines and polices described below, and you are acknowledging that you are solely and legally responsible for any statements that you make on this public network.
Please help all of us keep this listserv a valuable tool by observing the following guidelines when messaging. Keep a copy of it or bookmark this page for future reference. These guidelines are approved by the Region XI Leadership Team.

  1. Provide a concise subject line: for example - Seeking resources for DEI programming; Collaborator needed for conference session; Challenging situation r.e. support for LGBTQ+ students from XX country, etc.
  2. Only respond to the individual(s) who sent the message, not the entire listserv. If giving advice on a particular scenario or congratulating a colleague, only respond to the individual(s) who sent the message.
  3. Ask if you can forward a response. If sending a message, ask the person or people who responded for permission to pass along the response verbatim or as a summary.
  4. When in doubt, don't send it! Consult with the appropriate Regional Team member to inquire if a message or question is appropriate to send.
  5. REMEMBER, the listserv is public and only one resource. Anyone can see what is sent, so be sure to message wisely! Also, answers and advice provided are not definitive; always consult with policy guidance and regulations for questions you may have.
