Grants Through Region VII
Region VII is pleased to support international education activities through grants as funding allows.
Region VII is pleased to offer travel grants to support participation in our regional conference.
Grant Amounts: awardees will have the early-bird conference registration fee waived, plus be reimbursed for two nights the conference hotel. The funds for the hotel nights will be reimbursed based on actual costs as indicated on submitted receipts. Awardees must stay at the conference hotel in order to be reimbursed.
Special consideration are given to individuals from two-year colleges and/or Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Minority Serving Institutions, including Hispanic Serving Institutions and Tribal Colleges; first time attendees; and/or state institutions with significant budgetary constraints. In most, if not all, cases, grants are awarded to those who have not previously received a grant or award from Region VII. Priority are given to applicants who work or reside in Region VII.
Applications will open in late July 2025.
Each year, NAFSA Region VII is pleased to award a limited number of grants to individuals from Region VII towards participation in NAFSA Advocacy Day 2025. There are four grants available each with a value of up to $500 based on reimbursement.

About NAFSA Advocacy Day
Welcome Reception and Advocates of the Year Celebration (Capitol Hill) -- April 1, 2025, 4:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m. ET
All are welcome! First time participants will forge new relationships with their elected officials and staff, while learning how to effectively tell their story and frame the issues—whether communicating with lawmakers or on-campus leaders. Advocacy Day veterans can deepen their existing relationship with congressional offices while updating their argument in favor of international education.
Grant Amounts/Limitations/Parameters
Grant amounts are up to $500 and cover the full cost of the registration for the event. Special consideration will be given to individuals who have not previously attended Advocacy Day as well as to individuals from two-year colleges and/or minority serving institutions. Please note that awards will be made on a reimbursement basis and will be based on actual costs as indicated on submitted receipts up to $500. Recipients will be recognized at the NAFSA Region VII Business Meeting at the Regional Conference in the fall.
