Meet Your People Development Guide
Elena Anderson is your People Development guide. Elena is a Global Workforce Mobility Advisor, Human Resources Compliance, and Diversity & Inclusion Strategist with over 20 years of experience. She specializes in helping senior managers relocate and handle everything that comes with moving jobs internationally–from planning and hiring to logistics, taxes, and building partnerships. She’s designed Human Resources and mobility strategies and managed talent transfers from local to international levels for mid-sized to large companies, always keeping in mind the intricate needs of families and government regulations.
About Business Acumen
The Business Acumen module focuses on enabling international educators to develop keen insight into how their larger organization operates, including its financial flows and the impact each project has on long-term financial sustainability and outcomes.
At the end of this Business Acumen module, you will be able to:
- Appreciate the importance of aligning your projects with broader institutional strategies to support sustainable financial health.
- Identify steps to develop your business acumen skills to achieve the goals of international education.
- Understand how to use resources effectively as well as develop and manage budgets.
- Articulate how you can champion ethical and fiscally responsible practices.

Meet your Business Acumen Guide
Sara Easler, PhD is your Business Acumen guide. Sara is the Assistant Dean, International Programs & Partnerships and Director of the Office of International Programs & Study Abroad for the Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. She is responsible for the development of international strategy, relationships, and international education opportunities and has worked in the field of international education for over 15 years with a proven track record of success in the area of education abroad. She holds a master of education and a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of South Carolina. Sara’s research focuses on the areas of litigation risk, equity, and access in international education. Her dissertation explored the extraterritoriality of U.S. federal law in international education.
About Data Collection and Analysis
Proficiency in Data Collection & Analysis for an international educator is about being able to analyze the impact of policies, processes, and programs. This involves systematically gathering and measuring metrics and communicating accurate information and stories to key stakeholders and champions.
At the end of this Data Collection & Analysis module, you will be able to:
- Recognize how to collect, analyze and manage data while maintaining data integrity.
- Identify the steps to determine appropriate data collection methods based on stakeholder goals and the institution's mission.
- Effectively advocate with data and report outcomes to inform decision making and guide improvements.
- Use data to demonstrate the impact of your projects, programs, and initiatives, which helps to justify resource allocation.
- Create persuasive arguments using data and compelling narratives to promote the value of international education to a wider audience.
- Understand the importance of careful data management, standardized processes, and quality assurance to ensure data integrity across multiple sources.

Meet your Data Collection and Analysis Guide
Dr. Dilnoza Khasilova is an educator, researcher, and linguist with extensive global, cross-cultural, and inclusive experience and she has expertise in the field of international education, teaching and learning, and advancing global partnerships.
Dr. Dilnoza Khasilova holds her Ph.D. in Literacy Studies, Curriculum and Instruction Department within the College of Education (minors in Qualitative and Quantitative Research Methodologies), and a master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction with a concentration on English as a Second Language and a minor in International Studies from the University of Wyoming. Dilnoza is an Assessment/Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Specialist at the Ellbogen Center for Teaching and Learning and a founder of the World Language and Culture program (alumni initiative/community programming) at the University of Wyoming.
