The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) sent a memorandum to SEVIS users that discusses steps DHS is taking to address four scenarios that are likely to occur at ports of entry (POEs) on and after the "SEVIS deadline" of August 1, 2003:
- School and Student registered in SEVIS, and the student has a SEVIS-issued Form I-20
- School and Student registered in SEVIS, but the student does not have a SEVIS-issued Form I-20
- School registered in SEVIS, but there is no student SEVIS record (i.e., the student has not yet been entered into SEVIS
- Neither the School nor the Student are registered in SEVIS
The e-mail that transmitted this memorandum also informed SEVIS users that the SEVIS Help Desk will be open this coming weekend, Saturday and Sunday, August 2 - 3, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. EST.
DHS informed NAFSA that it is in the process of finalizing a memo with additional details, which will soon be sent to Designated School Officials (DSOs). NAFSA will post a copy of that memo on this Web site as soon as it is received from DHS. AMDOC#: 200307014
