Meet Aliena Schmidtke. She’s a professional competitive swimmer for the German national team. She’s also an alumna of The Ohio State University, and she’s currently conducting important medical research on multiple sclerosis and actively volunteering in her Ohio community.

- Earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Genetics and Biology from The Ohio State University
- Currently, a Research Assistant focusing on Vitamin D deficiency as a possible risk factor for multiple sclerosis
- Volunteered as a swim instructor with Ohio State’s Learning in Fitness and Education Sports Camp to help increase the swimming ability of underprivileged children in the Columbus, Ohio area
- Internationally competitive swimmer: Ohio State Women’s Swimming record holder (100m Butterfly, 2016) and member of the German National Team
