Susan Sermeno
Susan had the pleasure of filling all the positions at the international student office at John F. Kennedy University for twenty-two years. The positions she held included international student advisor, PDSO, and international admissions manager. She was the lifeline for international students from inquiry through post-completion optional practical training. Susan also coordinated visiting groups for short programs from Japan, China and Eastern Europe. The group she hosted from Japan resulted in a twenty year relationship, bringing new participants to campus each summer to study elder care under the university's School of Psychology. Susan was a NAFSA member for all twenty of her years in international education, and held volunteer positions in both the region and the district. Her longest period of service has been as treasurer for the Northern California District, the position she currently fills. Susan has been retired for three years, and in 2023 her first grandchild arrived. Susan spends time with her grandchild and her parents whenever she can, enjoys walking with her dog group, volunteers in her local community, and keeps her hands busy landscaping and gardening on her property.
