Sofía López-Ferrer
Sofía López-Ferrer is the Coordinator of Student Mobility and Internationalization of the Center for Professional and International Experiences (CEPI) at Universidad del Sagrado Corazón (Sagrado) in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where she is also the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO). She has worked in higher education for over 20 years, the last four specializing in the international education field.
In her current role, Sofia aims to increase the participation of Puerto Rican and other Latinx students in study abroad programs. This goal originated in 2020 when Sagrado -a Hispanic Serving Institution- was awarded the IDEAS Program grant, which facilitated the creation of culturally-appropriate resources that help educate Spanish-speaking students and their support systems on the benefits of international education and how to pursue these opportunities. Sofía has presented on this topic in several national conferences; including FORUMEA (Chicago, IL - 2022), NAFSA (Washington, DC - 2023), and -locally- at CAEOP (San Juan, PR - 2024).
She holds a BA in Mass Media Communication and an MA in Public Relations and Integrated Communication, both from Sagrado. Furthermore, Sofía is a licensed public relations professional with vast experience in strategic communication in the higher education industry.
