Luis A. Kauachi

Born in Tampico, Mexico, Luis has been involved with and participated in international education since 1991, when he first moved to Ottawa, Canada to pursue a high school diploma. He spent the year as a boarding student among the children of Canadian and accredited foreign diplomats leading to the discovery of his intercultural and multinational identity and the appreciation of diversity and a pluralist society. He has since participated in academic mobility and international education experiences in Quebec City, Chicago, London, and Montreal. With a background in international business and international affairs, he’s now pursuing his Doctoral Degree in Higher Education at Boston College, working at the intersection of international education, epistemic justice, and global citizenship.

He has mainly worked in Mexico and Canada as Director of Student Internationalization and the Montreal Liaison Office of the Tec de Monterrey and Director of Partnerships – Latin America at Université Laval. He joined the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (OUI-IOHE) in 2016 where he acted as the Senior Manager of the Conference of the Americas on International Education (CAIE) for the Montreal (2017), Bogota (2019), Santiago (2021), and Las Vegas (2023) editions. He is now the Director of Internationalization at Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico.
