Kyaw Moe Tun, PhD

Kyaw Moe Tun,PhD is a social entrepreneur with a mission to empower youth through education, especially refugees, to help them make positive change around the world.

After earning his undergraduate degree at Bard College at Simon’s Rock and Oxford University and a PhD in Organic Chemistry at Yale University, Tun felt inspired to bring liberal arts and science education to his native Myanmar. In 2017, he established the Parami Institute Myanmar, which provides high-quality and innovative liberal education programs to young Myanmar college graduates. 

After the military coup in that country in 2021, Tun quickly pivoted to incorporate Parami University as a private non-profit online synchronous university licensed by the Higher Education Licensure Commission, Washington D.C., to begin offering Associate and Bachelor degree programs in the fall of 2022 to displaced students in Myanmar and other areas under authoritarian control as well as students living in refugee camps.
