Douglas Proctor, PhD
Douglas Proctor, PhD is Pro Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement) at Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia. He provides institution-wide leadership on global engagement and oversees Swinburne’s global strategy in teaching, research and outreach. A scholar-practitioner in international higher education, Douglas has held international education leadership roles in Australia and Ireland, and received his PhD in international higher education from the University of Melbourne.
Douglas has authored papers and reports in relation to his doctoral research, as well as on the global landscape of international education research. With Laura Rumbley, he co-edited “The Future Agenda for Internationalization in Higher Education” (Routledge, 2018) which offers new perspectives on the future of internationalization in higher education from a younger generation of scholars and practitioners. A Senior Fellow of the International Education Association of Australia (IEAA), Douglas is also Chair of the European Association for International Education (EAIE) Publications Committee and editor of the EAIE Forum magazine.
