Daniel Ponce-Taylor

Intercultural Outreach Initiative

Daniel Ponce-Taylor is the director of operations and international development at Intercultural Outreach Initiative (IOI). For over 15 years he has been deeply involved in the international education field, developing and managing overseas operations in more than 15 countries. As a concerned and committed conservationist, Ponce-Taylor has worked to ensure that his involvement in international education initiatives has helped to tackle key local and global conservation and development issues and objectives. He has been developing partnerships between higher education and other stakeholders for over 10 years and recently has been focusing on increasing the impact and contribution that these partnerships have on the Agenda 2030 and UN Sustainable Development Goals. As the co-chair for the NAFSA Sustainability Special Interest Group (SIG), Ponce-Taylor hopes to engage NAFSA members in productive, critical, and innovative discussions to ensure the field of international higher education and global student mobility take into account sustainability issues as a critical and central part of their design and implementation. He graduated from the University of Southampton with a BS in oceanography and marine biology and later completed an MS in sustainable management of coastal and marine ecosystems at the University of Cadiz, Spain.
