Akali Fulmer

Conference Planner Apprentice, Region VII

Akali Fulmer has worked with diverse organizations and institutions, helping to design and implement programs that connect students, educators, and professionals across borders. Her expertise spans international student recruitment, study abroad program development, and education policy advising. She served as the Alabama State Representative for Region VII for two years and is currently serving as the Conference Planner Apprentice. Additionally, she is the Chair for Study Alabama: A Consortium for Global Engagement and Economic Development.

She was recently awarded a Fulbright International Education Administrator scholarship to Japan. Building on her experience from this program, Akali leveraged her expertise and organized a high-profile visit to India; this involved Alabama senators, representatives, the state superintendent, and State of Alabama university administrators to strengthen ties between Indian institutions and Alabama’s educational system.

She has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History from India. She also has earned three master’s Degrees: one in Theology, one in Divinity from Seoul Christian University in South Korea, and Master of Professional Studies in Higher Education Administration from University of North Alabama. Before transitioning into higher education, Mrs. Fulmer spent many years working/living in South Korea, Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan and Thailand. She is a member of the U.S. Youth Chamber of Commerce and worked for a short period of time as a Legislative Assistant for the U.S. Senate in Washington D.C.
