Networking Opportunities at NAFSA 2022
Connecting Virtually
The chance to make connections starts weeks in advance of the conference. Once the mobile app and the online planner launch, you can create a custom schedule and begin reaching out to fellow attendees to set up virtual or in-person meetings and exchange information. You can also connect with fellow attendees during the virtual program via the session chat function. Don’t be shy!
Networking in Denver
There are so many opportunities to connect at NAFSA 2022! Continue conversations while on-site, meet one-on-one at a poster fair, or stop by a community center to spark discussion and learn new ideas. Find your fellow international education professionals every day at our conference sessions, in dialogue with our Spotlight Presenters, at the NAFSA Pavilion, and throughout the International Education Expo. Networking opportunities at the NAFSA Annual Conference & Expo yield professional and personal growth that lasts throughout the year.
NEW THIS YEAR: We have built time in the conference schedule for targeted networking, engagement opportunities and coffee breaks with your colleagues. Visit the online planner and explore sections labeled “Networking, Engagement Activities, and Special Programs” for all the creative offerings designed to help you expand your network and build community.
Ways to Network at the Conference
The professional growth at NAFSA 2022 doesn’t stop when you step out of a session. Here are some suggestions for easy networking during your conference experience:
- Visit a Community Center: Relax in informal networking areas designated by each knowledge community. Arrange to meet with your colleagues here or drop in to meet new people. There are numerous open meetings scheduled in these centers throughout the week.
- Explore the International Education Expo: Visit the more than 400 exhibitors in the expo hall to discover the latest innovations in international education programs, products, and services. The expo hall is also a great place to meet people for coffee breaks.
- Talk with presenters one-on-one at the poster fairs to share best practices and new research.
- Attend a Member Interest Group meeting and connect with colleagues in a small and focused setting.
- Attend the opening celebration, NAFSA Awards program, and closing celebration and take the time to reconnect with your friends and recognize the accomplishments of your peers.
- Volunteer: Signing up to be a conference volunteer is an excellent way to meet new colleagues and to save yourself some money on conference registration at the same time.
- Connect via the NAFSA 2022 app (available in May): You can search for and send messages to fellow attendees on the app before and during the conference.
- As we reconnect in-person for the first time, we ask that you follow NAFSA’s health and safety protocols. Please submit your proof of COVID-19 vaccination prior to arriving in Denver, wear a well-fitting mask, and follow social distancing guidelines. Comfort level stickers will be available at registration so you can indicate your level of comfort with in-person interaction for your fellow attendees.
