Position: Trainer Corps Ambassador
Term Dates: Recruitment and Onboarding in September-October, Service October-March
Current members of Trainer Corps are called to serve as Trainer Corps Ambassadors during the promotion, recruitment, application, and application review periods for new and renewing Trainer Corps members. Ambassadors lead the targeted and intentional promotion and recruitment efforts of new TC members in and across all NAFSA Regions. Ambassadors co-organize and facilitate a virtual Trainer Corps Preview Day each fall and assist potential applicants with questions during the application period and follow-through on incomplete applications. Ambassadors then serve as part of the larger Application Review Team.
As a Trainer Corps Ambassador you will:
- Officially represent and promote NAFSA’s Trainer Corps and the NAFSA Core Education Program
- Enhance leadership skills and expand your professional network
- Influence the priorities and components of the overall NAFSA Trainer Corps Program
- Collaborate with NAFSA Regional and Knowledge Community leaders
Major Functions and Responsibilities
- Participate in a required virtual Preparation Program (orientation)
- Collaborate with other Ambassadors and TC leadership to build and deliver a unified promotion and outreach plan
- Coordinate and co-facilitate a virtual Trainer Corps Preview day for potential new Trainer Corps members
- Follow-up on questions from potential and current applicants
- Review, score, and make acceptance recommendations on assigned new and/or renewing Trainer Corps applications
- Provide feedback on process to Trainer Corps chair and NAFSA staff partners
All NAFSA leaders are expected to foster an inclusive environment and seek to learn and understand the multicultural perspectives of the committee/team, our constituents, and stakeholders to align with the NAFSA Diversity and Inclusion Statement. An expression of leadership in this area includes:
- Engaging the committee/team to identify and implement strategies for increased personal outreach, recruitment, and onboarding for all, especially diversity-focused and underrepresented groups
- Increasing accessibility and participation from underrepresented groups, individuals, and institutions
- Expanding educational content within the committees’ purview through intentional outreach and recruitment of diverse presenters and institutional types in partnership with various NAFSA groups
Commitment
Total Commitment: Approximately 15-20 hours
October:
- Participate in training session (approximately 1-2 hours)
October-March:
- Outreach, Promotion and Recruitment (approximately 8-10 hours)
- Application Review (first renewal applications, then new member applications) (approximately 5 hours)
March/April:
- Notifications and follow-up (approximately 1-2 hours)
