Position: Member, Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship Knowledge Community (TLS KC) Innovative Research and Scholarship Award Selection Committee
Term Dates: February 2025 – March 2025
The TLS KC Innovative Research in International Education Award celebrates and recognizes new and innovative research from any discipline that demonstrates a potential or proven impact in the field of international education. Submissions should focus on individual peer-reviewed publications in the format of either a journal article or a chapter in an edited volume (i.e., a book chapter) and may be put forward by either application or nomination. The TLS Award Selection Committee reviews submissions for the award and provides award candidate recommendations to the TLS KC leadership team.

Major Functions and Responsibilities
This position will:
- Review two to three assigned submissions according to the provided Review Criteria.
- Provide all feedback for each submission via the online form.
- Actively communicate with the TLS KC's Programs and Resources Coordinator regarding the status of assigned submission reviews.
- Please note that this review process is completely confidential. Members of the Award Selection Committee should not share any information about the candidates or their research with others.
Commitment
- Confirm for a specific project-defined commitment, renewable annually upon agreement with the TLS KC Programs and Resources Coordinator.
- Communicate with the TLS KC Programs and Resources Coordinator regarding the status of all assigned reviews and any questions that may arise.
- Dedicate 2-3 hours to review assigned submissions, depending on length of the publications, familiarity with content, and depth of provided feedback given the reviewer's professional expertise.
- Foster an inclusive environment in alignment with the NAFSA Diversity and Inclusion Statement.
Qualifications
- Interest and knowledge of ongoing scholarly and professional conversations in the international education field.
- Ability to provide unbiased reviews of others' publications regarding innovation and impact for the field of international education.
- Familiarity with different research methodologies (i.e., quantitative, qualitative, mixed methods, case studies, etc.).
- Familiarity with various research theories used in and relevant to the field of international education.
- Commitment to access and respond to e-mail in a timely fashion, as well as submit reviews using online electronic tools/systems.
- Commitment to confidentiality regarding award submissions.
- Previous review experience preferred (e.g., peer reviewer for journal articles, conference submissions, etc.).
- Current NAFSA member preferred.
