Committee: International Enrollment Management Knowledge Community (IEM KC)
Position: Regional Liaison Outreach Coordinator
Term Dates: Two-year term, renewable for one additional term (maximum of four years)
The Regional Liaison Outreach Coordinator provides a central point of contact between IEM KC and IEM regional liaisons appointed by NAFSA regional teams to focus on IEM-related issues. The position is responsible for facilitating two-way communication and support for the IEM community at the national and regional levels, keeping the IEM KC team and IEM regional liaisons aware of one another’s needs and offerings, as well as participating in and monitoring ongoing, community-wide discussions in the various IEM areas.

Major Functions and Responsibilities
Within the framework of NAFSA’s Strategic Plan, this position will:
- Stimulate a two-way flow of information between the KC and regional teams.
- Identify member issues and concerns and act as a conduit of information and support.
- Recruit effective volunteers to support resource creation, with special attention to regional voices.
- Conduct onboarding for new regional liaisons.
- Identify and cultivate future national and regional leaders from within the IEM community.
- Make recommendations for future IEM KC projects.
Sample Projects
In recent years, this position has coordinated projects such as:
- Discussion and web resource on interdepartmental and institutional staff exchanges
- Facilitate IEM community meetings at conferences
- Collect IEM news and trends from NAFSA regions
Commitment
- Assure NAFSA membership through the length of the leadership term.
- Confirm for a two-year term, renewable once, upon agreement with IEM KC leadership, for a maximum term of four years.
- Prepare for and attend leadership meetings throughout the year. Most meetings are virtual.
- Support IEM KC activities at the Annual Conference.
- Dedicate approximately four to six hours per month to the role.
- Foster an inclusive environment in alignment with the NAFSA Diversity and Inclusion Statement.
Qualifications
- Minimum of three years’ experience working in the IEM field.
- Previous volunteer/presentation experience with NAFSA.
- Specific knowledge of – and currently working in – recruitment, advising, marketing, admissions, international enrollment technology and communication, financial aid, credential evaluation, intensive English programs, and/or sponsored programs.
- An active interest in assisting colleagues with professional and leadership development.
- Ability to work effectively with a team in an outcomes-based environment.
- Willingness to adopt organization-wide perspectives.
- Preferred experience: service on a NAFSA regional leadership team.
