Committee: International Education Leadership Knowledge Community (IEL KC)
Position: Member, Resources and Networking Subcommittee

The International Education Leadership Knowledge Community (IEL KC) addresses the needs of senior international officers (SIOs), those international education leaders who are engaged in visioning, leading, and building commitment for internationalization by working at the nexus of administration, faculty, and international education services.
The Resources and Networking Subcommittee identifies and promotes resources for the IEL KC community in coordination with the IEL KC workplan. This work is on-going as the committee works to prepare and post new materials regularly while existing resources need to be kept up-to-date. The Resources and Networking subcommittee may also support the activities of the IEL Programs & Events team as well as the IEL Communications & Engagement team throughout the year.

Major Functions and Responsibilities
Within the framework of NAFSA's Strategic Plan, this position will:
- Collaborate with the IEL KC team in identifying needs of the IEL community and promoting relevant resources and engagement opportunities that support the needs of new and experienced international education leaders and SIOs at a range of institutional types globally.
- Review existing resources and develop new resources to enhance the offerings, including providing assistance in drafting text of resource introductions and descriptions.
- In collaboration with the IEL Communications & Engagement team, contribute actively to online discussions on the Leading Internationalization network.
- Promote the IEL KC and Leading Internationalization network at NAFSA events and other relevant professional meetings and encourage participation from new and experienced SIOs.
- Support the IEL Program & Events team in the implementation of virtual and in-person programming, when needed and available. Examples can include facilitating chats in online events and supporting set-up at the Symposium on Leadership at the NAFSA Annual Conference & Expo.
- Support the IEL KC team in developing and implementing workplan items.
- Participate in conference calls (minimum 4 per year) and e-mail communication with the IEL Past-Chair and NAFSA staff.
- Collaborate with the NAFSA staff partner to achieve these goals.

In recent years, this position has coordinated projects such as:
- Participation in discussions on the Leading Internationalization network.
- Participation in IEL KC community dialogues at the NAFSA Annual Conference & Expo.
- Blog submission for series on Diverse Pathways to International Education Leadership.
- Roundtable discussion facilitation at the Symposium on Leadership.
Commitment
- Serve for a two-year term with the possibility to extend for a maximum term of four years.
- Dedicate approximately two to four hours per month to the role, depending on project activity and availability.
- Prepare for and attend subcommittee meetings throughout the year.

Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience as a SIO or international education leader.
- Willingness to adopt organization-wide perspectives and strategic priorities.
- Strong coordination, analytical, oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with a team in an outcomes-based environment.
- Ability to meet the volunteer commitment outlined and planning calendar deadlines.
- NAFSA membership through the term of service is appreciated, though not required by the role.
