Submission Policies for NAFSA 2021
Travel and Conference Registration
All presenters, including session and poster presenters, are required to register for the NAFSA Annual Conference. The cost associated with attending the NAFSA Annual Conference, including registration, is the responsibility of the individual presenters.
Noncommercial Policy
NAFSA education programs at the annual conference are learning experiences and are noncommercial. Under no circumstances should a preconference workshop, general conference session, or poster presentation be used for direct promotion of a speaker's product, service, or other self-interest.
NAFSA Statement of Ethical Principles
All proposal submitters should be aware of NAFSA’s Statement of Ethical Principles and ensure they apply and incorporate the principles when developing content for educational offerings presented at the NAFSA conference. If you plan to present the written work or research of others in your materials, you must attribute all sources in full and in writing within your materials.
Presentation Limits
An individual may be listed in any number of proposals; however, it is NAFSA’s policy that an individual, regardless of role, may present in no more than two conference sessions and one poster per fair. An individual may present three posters, but they must all be in different fairs and time bands. Workshop trainers are limited to participation in one preconference workshop. Presenters may present on any combination of these (e.g. one person may present on one workshop and two sessions.)
Presenter Limits Per Proposal
The number of presenters listed in a proposal should reflect the needs of the format selected.
- Preconference workshops: Workshops may be led by no more than four trainers.
- General conference sessions:
- 60-minute session presentations may be led by one to four presenters (including the chair.)
- 25-minute session presentations may be led by one to two presenters (including the chair.)
- Career Center session presentations may be led by one to four presenters (including the chair.)
- Posters: Each poster may have no more than two presenters.
Changes to Proposals
After your proposal is submitted and prior to the review period, an internal review is done for accuracy. NAFSA staff and the Annual Conference Committee reserve the right to change the Knowledge Community or submission type assigned to your proposal as deemed fit. We also reserve the right to change titles and abstracts for clarity and NAFSA style.
Commitment to Diverse Perspectives
The Annual Conference Committee expects that session proposals demonstrate understanding of the varied conference attendee experiences, backgrounds, and learning needs.
Virtual Event Release
If selected, I am willing to offer my presentation in a virtual format, if necessary.
