Stay with us and make the most of your conference experience! All attendees are encouraged to stay at the conference hotel by using the reservation booking link or calling the hotel directly as instructed below. Booking through our vetted housing block ensures you receive a special discounted rate on your stay. This not only helps the region meet its financial commitments to the hotel but also offers the convenience of being just an elevator ride away from the conference sessions. Be aware that third-party booking sites may come with the risk of unreasonable cancelation terms and other restrictions.
The room block is available from October 6 - 9, 2024.
You may also call the Tropicana to book: 888-516-2215 (8am - 2am EST, 7 days a week). Group name: NAFSA Region X. Group Code: ST10NA4. All callers will be asked for this code but can also book by saying 'NAFSA'. The deadline to book a room through the room block is September 16. Rooms are $79/night plus taxes and fees.
Please note that the Tropicana Conference Center is located directly above the Tropicana Casino. The casino has designated smoking sections and is an open space. While there is proper ventilation, please note that some hallways may be smoky and we recommend wearing a mask when walking around the casino if you are sensitive to smoke.
When booking your room at the Tropicana, note that the Havana rooms are furthest from the casino and may be the least impacted by smoke. If you would like to be closer to the conference spaces, book in the North or South Tower.
Program and Schedule
The Region X Conference schedule will be available in September! Through the Online Planner, you can view the time, room, presenters, descriptions, and learning objectives of the sessions. You can also star the events you're interested in and create your own conference agenda, to view on the mobile webpage at the conference! There is also information on Sponsors, Exhibitors, and more!
Additional Events
In addition to workshops and presentations, the Region X conference will also have additional events such as the Gwyneth A. Smith Fun Run/Walk, a Silent Auction, and Karaoke. Check the Online Planner for additional details!

Resume Review
Region X would love to help you make your resume stand out! Join us for a one on one resume review session to gain valuable insight from a Region X mentor.
Mentor/Mentee Program
We will be hosting a mentorship program at the conference to foster networking and knowledge sharing between newer IE professionals and more experienced IE professionals. The program's purpose is to help newcomers explore the various aspects of International Education and NAFSA's resources, advocacy and navigating the conference. The Mentoring Program is designed to pair professionals that are new to international education and/or NAFSA with seasoned members. This is a great opportunity for both mentors and mentees. Remember, everyone was new to the field at one point!
Mentees: Are you new to the field of international education and looking for advice on a professional challenge, brainstorming to develop a new conference presentation, or advice navigating the field?
If so, we encourage you to sign up for a mentor! Region X is interested in helping new international education professionals to learn about NAFSA, professional development resources, and make professional and personal contacts to assist when you have questions.
Our mentor program will match you up with a colleague working in International Education who has been in the field for at least one year and has attended a NAFSA conference. Your mentor has committed to assisting you throughout the conference. Our hope is that your mentor will continue to be a resource for you after the conference.
Mentors: Are you an experienced practitioner in international education and looking to expand your network, coach newer professionals, and share your expertise?
If you have been a NAFSA member for at least one year and have attended a regional conference in the past, we would love to have you volunteer to be a mentor! If you are unable to attend the conference and interested in becoming a mentor, you are able to apply to be a volunteer.
Time commitment: Your time is valuable! The amount of time the mentor and mentee spend together will vary given the respective needs and schedules of those involved. We hope that mentors and mentees will be able to meet at least once before the NAFSA Regional Conference in Atlantic City, and ideally once at the conference and/or during the Fall (although you do not need to be attending the conference to participate in the program!).
We hope that all newcomers and seasoned NAFSA members will take advantage of this opportunity to meet and share ideas in this unique way.
Next Steps: Registration for the Mentorship Program is open! Application deadline is Wednesday, September 18th. Please fill out the interest form to start the process. We will share matched pairs by September 23rd and will host a virtual welcome/kickoff event to the program before the conference. Volunteering
Volunteering is a fun way to network while getting a behind-the-scenes look at the Conference. It is open to Conference attendees of all backgrounds and experience levels, and we have many opportunities to help in areas such as registration, session moderating, special events, and more. Information about how to sign up to volunteer is coming soon!

Connect with more than 300 international education professionals across New York and New Jersey. This year’s exhibit hall hosts all refreshment breaks and is in the same Grand Exhibition Center as the opening reception and all meals, making it the center stage of the conference.
