About the authors:

Matthew Sagayaga, Jr., MEd, is a financial aid adviser at Portland Community College in Oregon and has worked in financial aid for more than 20 years. Sagayaga has a bachelor’s in ethnic studies from Oregon State University, a bachelor’s in communications from Portland State University, and a master’s in postsecondary adult and continuing education from Portland State University. Sagayaga has served on NAFSA’s Education Abroad Regulatory Practice Financial Aid Subcommittee and has been active in NAFSA since 2015.

Sheerley Zinori, MEd, is an assistant director of enrollment services at Boston University Study Abroad, with more than a decade of experience in higher education and education abroad. In her current position, she oversees the student application process, supervises a team of two coordinators, and advises students on financing study abroad. Zinori is an active member of NAFSA’s Education Abroad Knowledge Community Financing Education Abroad Subcommittee. She has a master’s degree in educational leadership and policy studies from Boston University and a bachelor’s degree in history from Bryn Mawr College.
