About the authors:

Katherine Punteney is the founder of the Master of Arts in International Education Management Program at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey, located in California. As chair and associate professor, her teaching and research focus is on higher education and K–12 internationalization, intercultural competence, and international student and scholar services. With more than 20 years’ experience as a practitioner, Punteney most enjoys mentoring new professionals as they explore the international education field. Punteney completed her EdD in educational leadership at California State University-Sacramento. Punteney is an active member of NAFSA: Association of International Educators, having served as a Trainer Corps member and Region XII Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship representative.

Jayna Winn is the associate director of custom and faculty-led programs at CEA Study Abroad. She leads a team that partners with U.S. universities to develop and facilitate high-quality education abroad programs, supporting their specific learning outcomes and student populations. Winn holds an MA in international education management from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (MIIS). Before joining CEA, she worked in the field as a program coordinator at MIIS and for consulting projects focused on international program design and assessment. Additionally, Winn managed international teams for a digital marketing agency, where she developed an intercultural training program.
