In a March 29, 2012 Federal Register notice [77 Fed.Reg. 18907 (March 29, 2012)], the Department of State announced a new nonimmigrant and immigrant visa fee schedule, that became effective April 13, 2012.

This interim final rule became effective April 13, 2012. Written comments were accepted from the public until May 29, 2012. On September 17, 2012, DOS published a final rule adopting the interim rule's fees without change [77 Fed. Reg. 57012 (September 17, 2012)].
