Renewing America's Global Leadership

Policy Statement pledges support for President Obama's Global Engagement Agenda Through International Education
In a policy statement issued today by NAFSA: Association of International Educators, the association applauds President Obama's commitment to a new chapter in American leadership and engagement in the world and pledges its support in contributing to "a shared future of peace, security, and well-being" by advancing international education.

In its statement, Renewing America's Global Leadership, NAFSA says that "our country, and indeed the entire world, welcomes the path our new president has charted - one that seeks to return America to its core principles, to reaffirm our commitment to extending a hand of friendship and understanding to the global community, and to assert our shared humanity in the advancement of peace in our world."  It notes that a guiding principle of the association since its founding, one shared by its nearly 10,000 members, is that "international education, by its nature, is fundamental to fostering peace, security, and well-being - for America and for the world."
