Kathie Stromile Golden, PhD
Kathie Stromile Golden is Provost/Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at Mississippi Valley State University in Itta Bena, where she previously served as Director of International Program/Assistant to the President’s Office and Professor of Political Science, Associate Vice-President for Academic Affairs and Director of the Delta Research and Cultural Institute. She has directed International Development and Higher Education Development Projects in Liberia, Azerbaijan, Mauritania, Kazakhstan and Iraq. Kathie was a Fulbright Lecturer/Researcher at The Academy for Public Administration under the President of Azerbaijan Republic. She served as Partnership Coordinator and Budget Manager for The International Development Partnerships at the United Negro College Fund Special Programs Corporation, overseeing a $38 million budget and has held administrative positions at Morris Brown College, Morgan State University; and Southern University, Shreveport.Kathie has also been on the faculty at Clark Atlanta University; University of Colorado; Texas Tech University; and Arkansas State University.
Kathie earned B.A and M.A. degrees in Political and Social Sciences from Southern University, a Doctorate in Political Science from the University of Kentucky and was a Chancellor's Post-Graduate Fellow at the University of Illinois.She is the recipient of service, leadership and research awards and grants for curriculum development and research in China, Russia, Poland, and Hungary. Kathie’s research and publications focus on communist and post-communist societies and sex trafficking.She is Executive Director of the National Conference of Black Political Scientists. Duties and responsibilities of her current academic position align most closely with international student and faculty service, as well as study abroad program development.
