NAFSA is an association of individuals worldwide advancing international education and exchange. NAFSA serves its members, their institutions and organizations, and others engaged in international education and exchange and global workforce development.  NAFSA sets standards of good practice; provides training, professional development, and networking opportunities; and advocates for international education.


Bylaws & Standing Rules

NAFSA bylaws and standing rules were revised in September 2008. The new versions are available below.

Board of Directors

NAFSA's Board of Directors is made up of six officers and 12 members. The Board sets the Strategic Plan that guides NAFSA's progress towards the goals and objectives planned over a three-year horizon. Action items are determined and delegated to member committees, teams, task forces, and knowledge communities. Read summaries of Board meeting action items. Members Only


Subcommittee Charges

Subcommittee Charges are created through a process specified by the revised Standing Rules. Each subcommittee is created to address specific concerns with appropriate goals, assigned to them by the knowledge community or committee to whom they report. Diversity Statement

The NAFSA Board of Directors passed a resolution on diversity on December 4, 2004 to guide its work and the work of NAFSA leadership groups. It was revised by the Executive Committee, June 23, 2005. Read the Diversity Statement.
